Am having quite common problems with the Worcester 240 - CH is fine but there is no hot water unless the CH is also switched on and then it's tepid.
From what i can gather there is a good chance it's the diverter valve/diaphragm.
How easy are these to fit yourself (i don't wish to blow the house up) and does anyone know where I could download a 240 manual. Can't find them anywhere.
Many thanks.

Nice and easy to cure. The diaphragm is located within the round brass section at the front. Turn off cold main, open hot tap, undo 6/8 screws and 1 nut to remove.

Diaphragm will cost a few pounds from parts centre

Actually I've read someone that I will have to drain the whole system to do this. Is this true? Your method sounds a whole lot easier!

sorry to sound dense but do you mean switch on the hot taps around the house or on the boiler? I can't find the hot tap on the boiler. There is a tap to increase pressure but that's about it.
Also would i have to switch off the gas supply and isolate the electric?
Thanks for your help.

Open hot tap at sink, turn off mains supply to boiler & turn fuse spur supplying boiler off, just incase any little drips on electrics.

replaced the diaphragm (it was distressed and contained a couple of holes) and now I'm getting hot water! Thanks for all the help
However a couple of small things. One of the pipes leading into the diverter valve is leaking. Very very slowly. About one drip every ten mins. I did replace the washers but any other hints on how to stop the drip.
And since changing the diaphragm the bar pressure goes up to about 2 when the heating is on. Previously it didn't go about 1 1/2. should i be worried?

Don't know if it's like yours, but I have the 24CD1 system and I keep the pressure at 2 bar. The instruction manual says not to run it above 2.5 bar max

Sorry I can't help with your other question. I get my system maintained by Scottish Gas
