Most likely a motorised valve problem.
what system do you have?

(a)Gravity HW with pumped CH.or
(b)Fully pumped with 3 port mid position valve.or
(c)Fully pumped with two 2 port motorised valve
With (a) room stat will control the circulating pump.
With (b) room stat controls the valves movement and power output to fire boiler in CH position.
With (c) room stat will control the CH valve only and provide power to fire boiler.
First thing in all cases is to check output from room stat before moving on to the valves or the pump in case (a)

24i is a combi boiler, no motorised valves, try linking out the external controls at the pcb

Defrosted the outside pipe after talking to British Gas on their website,pressed reset,boiler came on but thermostat does not light up,and boiler will not start from it so I am using the overide to get the heating on. Have changed the batteries on the thermostat any ideas, thanks.
