i keep finding puddles of water around the boiler. it is coming from a small cylinder which sits on top of the tank on the left hand side. the cylinder has a small black cap on it with a small hole in it. the pressure gage is currently reading 0 because i have drained the water off of the central heating . can anyone give me any info as to what the problem could be? many thanks.

sounds like you need to change the aav, auto air vent,do it now while you have it drained plus throw some inhibitor in now as well

try a plumbers merchant screw one out screw one in,failing that b&q

Reduce the water pressure by operating the pressure relief valve, then you should be able to unscrew the old and screw in the new without too much water getting loose.
