Hi, I have a Worcester Greenstar 25Si that has had a problem for the past 3+ years.
I've had engineers out and parts have been replaced, but none have fixed the problem. I'm about to throw it away and never buy a Worcester again.
I was wondering, being as the collective Internet is infinitely more helpful than Worcester Bosch / SSE homeserve, I thought I'd ask here first before spending a fortune on a new boiler.
I had my whole house re-piped and wired from cold water stop valve and pre-consumer unit inclusive. All pipes and rads were brand new, in 2006 and installed was a 25Si Combi.
Since about 2011 or so, there's been a problem with the hot water coming out of the taps. It'll start fine, and carry on fine for about 5 minutes, then, it'll go cold (like the cold water tap), after a minute, it'll go back to hot again.
I have noticed that this only seems to happen when the central heating is on (or has been on?) and I believe only in Eco mode.
To quantify this, we've had no problems taking a shower or filling the bath over the summer, but as soon as the cooler mornings come in and the heating comes on, showers now have the cold minute again.
My wife noticed that this wasn't as prevalent with Eco off (although I'm yet to be convinced).
There is another problem, and I'm wondering if they're connected. Over time pressure sensor goes to 0 bar when the central heating is on, but does not do this over the summer (i.e. it keeps the slightly over 1 bar pressure for 5+ months)
It seems that the system is venting my central heating water for some reason. (I have checked and the cold shower part happens even when the pressure is above the 1bar because now I "fill up" the boiler every morning before I have a shower)
Are these two connected in any way?
As I mentioned above, SSE HomeServe and Worcester have been less than helpful. SSE HS replaced a few parts, then because he couldn't replicate the cold water part said "your central heating has a leak" and left. Bosch just said "out of warranty £300 please".
Can anyone please help me?
Thank you. Marty
