Hi all.
This boiler is locking out with a (according to the fault finding chart and my observations) "slow flash (mostly off) ignition lockout.

Check -Gas present and at the correct pressure.
- Gas valve. Is there 29V dc to each solenoid.- The resistance of each solenoid (>9.3.4).
-Combustion CO2 level.
-Blockage or restriction in the flue.
-Gas valve adjustment.
-Ignition electrode/harness/connections.
-Condition and resistance of the leads (approximately 2,100 ohms).
-Repalce control board.

This fault first occured last year when we had that first flush of summer heat around about the same time of year. It happened every morning when the heat/hotwater comes on at 06.30. resetting the boiler makes it work and it will work all day, including the evening switch on. The next morning when I check it it will have locked out again. I asked mt grandaughter's partner, who is a gas safe plumber, to come and check it which he did a couple of weeks later and he could find no fault. the temperature had cooled a bit by then and we had no more problems until today, when the ambient temperature has risen again. We have nine rads all of which are around about 2 years old. There is a Magnaclean filter fitted. The wall thermostat in the hall is always set to full and never changes. All the rads apart from the hall one have thermostaic valves. We turn off all the rads in the house when the summer warmth happens apart from one in the bathroom for the towells and one in the spare room where the missus dries the clothes when it's raining. If it was the control panel I wouldn't expect it to right itself. It does seem to be ambient temperature related but it is an odd one. I can live with it at the moment but it is annoying. I also have a brand new Worcester Bosch Greenstar RI 24kw still in it's factory wrapping and box which I bought last year. Very reluctant though to ask my family gas man to install it whislt I can get away with resetting the existing boiler every morning because a new boiler would quite possibly mess up the equilibrium in my fairly ancient microbore central heating system with all that installing that would entail.

Anyway a bit of a tome for which I apologise. I hope I have given enough information and someone can help. The boiler was installed in 2007 and was regularly serviced by BG until we moved in 4 years ago since it has been serviced by my grandaughter's gas safe partner.

Have you seen the similar threads section below. Not a heating engineer but some seem like similar symptoms

Yes thanks I did see those but the symptoms are different. My boiler has worked faultlessly since the last episode which was around the same month last year when we had a similar hot spell. It's a bit weird and is probably something to do with overheat and that probably means a new control panel which it isn't worth doing really especially as I have a brand new boiler sitting in it's box. I'll see how it goes but thanks for answering.

I don’t see how swapping a ri for an ri would affect microbore. Get your gas engineer to look at it
