Sykes on pole and J Rae snapping at his heals, promises to be another fantastic race tomorrow. :D

Me personally would not go to the IoM TT, when it started the bikes were capable of about 25mph downhill with a tailwind, they're now maxin out at 200mph, take it from me at 150 odd on the m5 the lanes start getting narrow, a slight twitch at that speed and you wander more than a few inches, these guys are out to beat each other, pushing themselves to and beyond the limit, for a deviation they can and do hi telegraph poles, stone walls and other imovable objects, its a sport, they should not have to pay with their lives.

Why cant the IoM tourist board do what they did in Jerez i think it is, where the locals built their own international race track, now that would be worth going to the IoM for.

One of the clips they showed on TV was a guy coming off and flying over a wall, bouncing into a field and then bouncing again over something like a 5' high dividing wall! That was one hell of a lucky escape!

Why don't they ban the thing altogether on safety grounds? When it's dry they travel faster and hit objects harder.

Do you think the island would ban the greatest source of income to Isle of Man?

People dont go there to watch them race....they go to watch them crash or be killed!

thats just nonsense!....

is it?

My neighbour has been racing in the TT for almost 30 years, he does tell me a lot about the place.

Where do the majority of spectators stand?

As ex GP racer James Hunt said....'They don't pay all that money to see us drive, you know. They come to see us killed.'

and there is an element of truth in that

and Barry Sheene said
'Riders can do what they want to do. It's their lives and they can do what they want with them. But the Isle of Man is not for me.'

each to their own i think is the message there.

and there have been no competitor deaths at all this year....

Exactly....its a dangerous sport in which adrenilin is hyped by the risk of being killed or seriously injured.

On averege 2 people a year die at the TT, almost 230 since it started....countless numbers of serious injuries.

The TT is famous because you can be killed, there is very little safety....they dont have crash walls, they have stone walls

Watchin the BTCC all day today with ITV4s excellent day long coverage,

My opinion on TT.

It's not really a race , it's a time trial. Best bike wins not neccessarily equal machinery.

Prefer actual wheel to wheel action like Dunrod or the Northwest 200.

Thats true yes, basically fastest lap wins! time trial.

Which is what the initials TT stand for, though a lot of people don't actually realise that.

A lot of people think it means Tourist Trophy.
