Zanussi Dishwasher DE6854 stops during rinse

My dishwasher starts and runs for about 5 mins then as soon as it gets to the wash cycle it stops and flashes. Also when it rinses it is always cold even on intensive (supposed to be warm rinse). Could this be the heating element, and what is the likely cost of replacing it? Any help much appreciated.
