Hi,

I am hoping someone can help me. I have a Zanussi 1260 which is washing absolutely fine. For some reason though when it is not in use it fills with water!?! After a week of it sitting there doing nothing it had about 4"/9cm of water in the drum. I drained it out through the filter point at the front but there was nothing in the filter.

Why would it fill with water when not in use and what can I do to stop it!!!

Thanks for your help!

is it clean water or dirty water?

the usual causes are:
Clean water: the electric valve at the back is leaking. it is a replaceable part. Workround is to turn off the service valve (tap) (probably under the sink) where the blue or red plastic hose is attached

Dirty water: the waste hose is allowing water from the sink to flow back. Cure is to improve the run of the water hose so that it runs in a loop, of which the highest point is higher than the water level in the sink (e.g. touching the bottom of the draining board)

Thanks for your fast response JohnD!

I believe it is clean water so I will try turning off the tap and see if that has any affect.

We used to turn the machine on to a spin cycle briefly to drain the water when the inlet valve was leaking.
