Zanussi washing machine FL1030- replacing the door seal

Anyone tried replacing a door seal on a Zanussi washing machine. Mine is torn and I can get a replacement for it but can't quite see how it connects at the drum end. There is a bit of plastic there but no obvious way to get it off.
I've made a temporary repair on the seal so dont want to hack about it just now. Just hoping someone else has done it.

Looking at some new machines in the shops - the seal is very similar so probably applies to other models.

i can not speak for a zanusi, but hotpoint, you eventualy take the front off and there is a steel band holing it to the outer tub.


...............and if you ask really nicely the steel band will play something for you
