Hi everyone

I am going to zone my house upstairs and am going to put a 28mm 2 port valve in.

I have just knocked a hole in wall in the garage and found the return pipe from upstairs.

Question is

Will it matter if I put the valve on the return ? Or will I get heat leakage around my upstairs.

They system is sealed on a s plan .

Reverse circulation can occur even with the valves inserted in the flow. It is caused as a result of the pipe layout, not the location of the valve. The link to the diagrams here, explains.

you will not be able to just fit a zone valve on the upstairs pipework , it should go on the flow but you will have to T the upstairs flow in before the existing heating zone valve or it will not work
