Thanks for your time in answering this question. I am studying at college and am stuck on a question I have been asked

Successful Zs tests will prove that all earth fault loops have:

A) low resistance - enabling disconnection times to be met
B) high resistance - enabling disconnection times to be met
C) connection between n & e at socket outlets
D) no breaks in their installation.

A - low (enough) resistance.

Ensuring enough current will flow in a fault to operate the OPD in the required time.
 
With questions posed in such poor English it is not suprising students are sometimes confused.......

A sucessful test provides results that are accurate to what is there

A sucessfull Zs test will give

[1] a result of very low impedance if the Zs is very low
[2] a result of very high impedance if the Zs is very high.


A un-sucessfull Zs test will give

[1] a result of very low impedance if the Zs is very high
[2] a result of very high impedance if the Zs is very low.

I agree that it's a poorly worded question, but your interpretation is (I presume deliberately) a bit mischevious :)

The problem is really the phrase 'Successful Zs tests'. I presume (from the answers offered) that what they really mean is "satisfactory Zs test results", " 'passes' in Zs tests", or something like that!
