I was thinking of putting a border on the window ledge line + tiling down to the bath. The border will go round the room. right of the ledge where the yellow paint is there will be one tile above the border. to cover where the tiles used to be.

there is a tile and border in the pic. the tile is 33 cm long. after the border and then a whole tile there will be a 17cm gap to the bath.

so:

1 Is that ok
2 From this forum i get the impression there should be a whole tile above a border. that cannot happen with the window ledge so any probs?
3 It is only the bath and the back of the bath, (which cant be seen on the pic) where the shower is that is tiled to the ceiling. is it better to just have the border on those walls i.e two walls
4 what size spacers for these tiles 33cm x 24.5 cm

I don't like seeing any less than 3/4 of a tile against a bath like that or it stands out a mile. If you do it like you say, what does the top tile fit like over the shower?

Why don'y you just move the border tile higher up the wall? I think that'd look better.

if you mean that if i start with the border how does it fit to the ceiling then i have measured and it is 124cm upwards after the border so i can fit 3 3/4 tiles to the ceiling. This will be done above the bath lengthways (you can see a bit of that wall from the picture) and the taps end (which u cant see) where the shower is.

the shower fitting is just above the line of the window sill you see in the picture. as such the border would fit underneath

i hear what you say gcol but does that mean i can't have a border on the window wall? cause to do it means i will need to have the border higher but of course there is no wall there is only the recessed window sill and then window. so are you saying i should just have a border parallel to the bath and the shower wall only (which just extends beyond the bath til it hits the doorway where i took the pic from). is that best?

I mean like this. You can run the border around the window reveal. This would havea full tile on the bath. I dunno how that works out at the ceiling but I certainly wouldn't bother trying to line it up with the cill.
How about laying them sideways in a brickwork pattern? That'll look different. ;)
