Do I need to protect a shower cable (10mm) burried in plaster with metal shield to comply with regs?

Its running three inches from the corner of the bathroom in zone 3 behind the door.

No you don't need additional protection. The safe zones are 150mm from the corners of a room, 150mm from the ceiling, and horizontally and vertically from any accessory.
