Let's forget about the future for a moment and look at the past.
Which creation sequence do you believe to be true?

planet earth
water
light= first day
atmosphere=seconday
dry land
grass,herb,tree=third day
the moon,the lesser light to rule the night.including the stars.fourth day
sea creatures
fowl,birds ect fifth day
cattle,creepimg thing,beasts,land animals
man= sixth day

women was made from man. some time after

thats my take on it, not saying i am 100% right.

If it gives a sequence in the Bible, would you take that to be true, as it is in the Scriptures?

Maybe, maybe not. But that doesn't really answer my question :confused: I'm sure we can all understand why people want there to be a deity, but I'm struggling to understand why anyone would wish there not to be one.

It's not a question of wanting there not to be one; more a case of wondering how and why people can believe there is one merely by being told there is by someone with a vested interest.

Don't forget that without one a lot reasons/excuses for all sorts of stupid actions would be invalid.

As in the OP it is allowed to be schizophrenic for religion when otherwise it would just be a psychological condition.

Thanks. But surely it's in all of our interest for a god to exist. Please don't confuse this with "professional" religious people and the man made rules that accompany religions. I'm referring to an entirely benign deity the existence of which would explain a whole load of things and give a fundamental point to it all.

So.....as with all previous believers, you avoid answering a direct question when challenged. How can believers say that they believe the bible is the word of god, and yet ignore it?

I read and studied it when I was a believer myself. That was part of my journey to finding out there was no god.

Which creation sequence do you think is the truth? Do you believe the sequence in Genesis describes the order in which God created everything?

I would love there to be a God, and spent a lot of time trying to find out the truth, and return to that child like acceptance . Sadly though, a Christian deity does not explain much as there is no internal logic or consistency within the scripture upon which it's existence is based.

For me, therein lies the problem. We're so attuned to look at the fundamental concept through organised and historical "religions" that we're then inclined to throw out the baby with the bathwater due to the rather silly structures that mankind has invented with, as per usual :rolleyes: , the greed, jealousy, oneupmanship and wars that they entail.

Sounds good but with the state of affairs in the world what difference would it make?

I really don't see how or why unless you are advocating that this benign deity is just watching all the suffering and stupidity.

What is the difference?
