Do you spend your life on the forums?

i spend a lot of time on forums as one of my hobbies as I'm retired now.
Admin/Moderator on some forums in the past , Photography & Tech forums supporting people on PCs etc.
I actually started on some forums on a company network back in the 90's
I do a lot now on the Excel forums answering posts and assisting , and here and other DIY forums. In the past a lot of time on the Tech Forums as Admin, Manager & Moderator.

But i do do a lot of reading posts and learning as well, so based on my post would give a misleading figure of time spent

I'm logged in all the time, as the browser is open with the forums loaded & also start with the browser , so although always open , not always looking at them

Hence why I got off for a while. I found it taking up too much of my time... now I'll try and limit it.

I used to, then I discovered Youtube, Facebook, Netflix and Minecraft - now I do a quick check around the forums in the evening and then get back to the others.

Have you ever worked?

Being a quick reader also helps. I can skim a lot of posts, mentally 'isolate' those worth responding to, and discard the rest.
In addition, I often see posts that I agree with, and find no reason to add a duplicate comment.

Yes, of course. Now comfortably retired, but still working in a professional capacity and busy with my own DIY.

You can tell pretty quickly the people who spend too long on here

Forums are great, full of some fascinating people with so much to offer from a learning and education perspective. Shame its tainted with bellends, some with such self importance of their existence in some forums slightly taints the benefit, but as we know statistically ying n yang for one bellend there's another bellend.

Anyway love forums way more than any narcissistic FB or Twitter discussion, incredibly less toxic too.

I also love them to laugh at some people and their idiocy, and admire others for their incredible insights into things id never be able to understand alone, and for all those people who have chipped in and helped me along the way so far i salute you.

Anyway what was the question oh yes, i do but keep it at arms length for obvious reasons, but always try and contribute back more to any forum from which ive gained. Some real characters here on Diynot that keep me coming back for more.

Couldn’t resist taking a peak and saw that at your first visit yesterday, your half an hour was 69 minutes long and you were back again posting later in the morning and again in the afternoon. The long and short of it is that you spend much more time here at DIY than you’re aware of or are unwilling to admit:the 2500+ post count in such a short time says it all.

However, it is you’re time and it’s up to you what you do with it or what you say you do with it. Good luck to you and happy posting.

Don't be daft. Just because I post something at 0800hrs, then something else again at 0910hrs, it doesn't mean that I've been on for the whole time between those times.
As I previously said, if I'm at my desk, I can flip in and out of several programmes, sites, etc. Maybe I'll log off, maybe I won't.
Sometimes I may be halfway through a post, go off to do something and return to finish it, as indeed, I just have.
Been at something else for a couple of hours, was gonna take a five minute break, put the kettle on, started a reply to your daft comment, left it halfway when the kettle boiled, now returned to finish it while I'm drinking my tea.

To reiterate, it was not a personal question. Asking someone if you have ever worked and paid taxes is often asked by
concerned, hardpressed taxpayers like me.

A "personal question" for me would be personal.
