    2 Gang Dimmer and switch

Hi Guys, Does anyone know where I can buy a 2 gang light switch (to fit a single ko box) that has a dimmer on the left (250w) and a conventional switch (1way or 2 way) on the right? I need to get one tomorrow so if anyone has seen them in stock in a particular wholesalers or shop around the...

You can indeed buy such an item. However they are normally special order jobs. Just pop into your local wholesaler and get them to order one in for you. BTW... They are v. expensive!

    240v to 12v transformer lighting

Do as Briwire suggested. Wire conventionaly, and put a seperate tranny before each fitting. You could have all feed outs coming from one easily accessable j.b, or run them as a simple mini-radial circuit like any conventional lighting system, with your switch cable coming off your first j.b.

    halogen lv transformers

I would say first of all check that the Transformers are suitable to be dimmed. I have replaced so many of those green brooks before. TLC standard are a good bet. If not Aurora havn't failed me before. If it is still happening after the change over, try swapping the dimmer or reverting back to...

Putting a lamp where there no socket

In fact I spotted a news article on the telly a few weeks ago. Some chaps have developed a way of transmitting very small current wirelessly by the use of eddy currents. it is enough to chrage up his mobile phone without it being attached to this charging unit. To be quite frank, when it has to...

Wiring bathroom downflow wall heater?? help please.

I'm surprised that the heater does not come pre-wired with a length of flex. It is almost certainly double insulated (electrical symbol of a square inside a square) is this is the case, it should not have an earth connection to the mains. When running 8.7 amps, 1.0mm would be fine as 2 core...

Low voltage downlights versus Mains voltage downlights.

however a 50w low voltage light fitting is going to use exactley the same power as a 50w mains voltage fitting. 50w is 50w! therefor the only way you would save on power consumption is if you are using fewer fittings. And the Part L argument is quite important. approx 1/4 of rooms must be 'LOW...

Do 1 To 2 Gang Socket Converters Work ok

I have installed a few of these in my time for people working on a budget. They tend to be okay, although as the previous post states, they are noticably fatter. The ones you have found seem pretty good as many have rounded rocker switches that look dated. Go for it!

    Lightswitch, neutral and terminal block...

So long as the light is permanently fixed and the switch connections are made in a suitable enclosure to BS7671, why not just buy an in-line switch and retro fit it??

Fluorescent light and external PIR from 6amp MCB on con unit

I think He has found a hybrid here between joint box and choc block (electrical connection strip)! You would be right in using connection strip for the neutral and CPC

    240v fluorescent downlights

Don't forget however, that traditional Halogen lamps could be retrofitted at a later date, and so if they are new downlighters, making the same preparations such as removing insulation from around the fittings would be advisable as Halogen Lamps create far more heat. :D
