I`ve just had the oil and plugs changed on my 98 1.1 saxo & noticed the oil level had gone down about a week after the oil change. Had a look around the block and I spotted some oil seeping out of a gap on the front of the engine and it looks like its been running down the front of the block & just burnt off. Is this the first stages of the head gasket giving way or summat simple like a seal thats just split?

I also pulled some breather pipes off the top of the engine and I had some mustard coloured water run out of them. Time for a big garage bill or a new car?

depends how much emulsion is in the oil,how does it look on the dipstick?
could just be the rocker cover gasket letting the oil out

Oil on the dipstick looks normal and the water level hasn`t dropped and she ain`t running to hot so maybe its not as bad as I first thought, but some folks who have seen it have said it might just be the rocker cover yet two other people have said that its the first signs of the head gasket letting oil out. But could a worn head gasket just let a bit of oil out or would she swallow some water as well as blowing oil out?

If it's got crud in the breather pipes then maybe its blowing oil out of them.
