this morning on opening the hot water tap i found it had lot of air.
1. so i left the the tap running for a while and then closed and left for work Is it ok to run the tap to clear as there was fair amount of air
2.there is an air bleed vent pipe with a black screw with a hole near the cylinder. when ever there is air should i use the air bleed manually OR in what position should this black cap be left in i mean should it eft open at all times or it should be closed at all times and used only when air lock in cylinder.
any help and comments will be appreciated
thanks ih

it's just dissolved air from the cold water main, when the water gets hot this dissolved air is released.

no need to do anything.

unless you have a shower pump which might be sucking air into the cylinder

shower pumps suck from the tank and cylinder

if they suck faster than it fills they will cause air to go in

if you get this problem, start a new thread.

john thanks for your reply.just for your info i do have shower pump.I will appreciate your help on the manual vent if this needs to be left open or closed.
thanks

the vent will not be for your tap water, it is for your boiler water

post a pic of the cylinder and the pipes around it for ideas.

Show the cold feed to the cylinder which comes from the large cold tank above

see if using the shower pump leads to air in the tap

tell us how high the cold tank is above the cylinder
