bath mixer tap

hi,
got a problem with my bath mixer tap. if i send the water to the shower i get a lot of the water still dripping from the main tap into the bath. is there a way to fix this problem or do i have to change the whole mixer tap. please find an image below.

The control in the middle comes off if you remove the cover cap.

Think you will find this is worn but repairable

PS, dont forget to turn the water off

just found out there is not cover cup on the middle control. i am a bit stuck now.might have to try if i can take the whole of the middle control off. any ideas anyone.thanks
