BG Ripoff

there are fixed price quotes on the computer but often they are way out or dont reflect the job in hand.

i personally prefer to make them up from scratch using the individual prices of parts and labour. the quote guide tool is a wonderful thing :D .
it gives a far more accurate price for both the customer and BG's bean counters.

Bean counters  Says it all. Brings back memories of the Ford Pinto fiasco

found that quote tool is ball ox, think of a number, add 20 percent then 3 hrs labour to nake a LD job, percentage AND performance, GET IN!!!!

yes thats if you do it wrong and are in any way concerned about performance.

if however you want to give a reasonable price, or as near as you are ever going to get with bg's pricing policy, then the qgt can do it.

Must be showing my age now

The fuel tank in these had two pointed 'spears' behind it, so when a rear ender accident happened it blew up

Ford new about the design fault, but their bean counters decided it was cheaper to pay out for a few accident/death claims, rather than do a recall to make all the cars safe.

nickso, performance targets were the reason I left BG. You cannot hit performance targets AND do the job properly without making sales too. I don't know about anyone else but I thought this industry was about keeping people safe, after all, that;s why I joined.

ah its the yankee car rather than the engine then.

i had vaguely heard of this but it didnt register.

oh i agree. thats why i pay no attention whatsoever to performance.

Good on yer nickso, pity more are not like you, BG would have a brilliant reputation then ;)

Do you get a lot of stick from your manager then because you want to do it right?

he's not over the moon about my endless lack of performance. but when only 5% of the guys on my patch are making a "1" he has far more things to worry about than me.

he never hears from me, i dont break things and i generally get the job done mostly first time and without any fuss.

oh and i hang up or walk away if he gives me any stick

my faith is restored nickso, if the rest were like you then BG wouldn't have the rep it so richly deserves these days. I work for a rival company these days and their "retention" team are reduced to name calling and downright lies to convince their customers to come back.

BG's rep is none of my concern. i get paid to do a job and i do it as well as i can.

i have no particular loyalty to them, although some on here think i do when i point out some of their utterly ridiculous posts.

the retention teams of any company are all pathological liars and deserve a damn good flogging.

Theres also a lot of self employed engineers who do bad jobs and give a bad name to the industry, not just some BG employees, but as always in this world you only get to hear of the bad ones
