Bit of a central heating problem here..

Hi Chaps - I'm having a spot of bother in my flat - I wonder if any of you could shed some light on this

I can't seem to get my Hot water to come on, when I manually turn on the hot water on the central heating control, the heating comes on instead - full blast !

So basically I end up with red-hot radiators and no hot water. When the heating comes on, turning down the thermostat has no effect. If I try to turn on the heating manually, nothing happens. The pilot light will only come on if I turn on the hot water - and its the heating !

Anyone have any idea what the hell is going on here !?!

motorized valve at a guess...but not many system details to work with.

Thanks Oilski - I think it might be that - its a Danfoss 3-way Valve, I can hear it whirring intermittently heating on, and not the hot water
