Hi, I have seen a few of the remote devices which you place in a ceiling rose just before the bulb, and can then control with a switch which can be wall mounted. Looks ideal for my bathroom but was wondering this:

I have only seen battery operated transmitters. Are there any which can have the on/off permanently switch wired to the supply to avoid needing to replace batteries?

If you're going to install cabling to a wall switch why not just have a normal one wired to the light in the normal way?

the existing switch is in a metal pipe - its pretty old. i will pull the wiring into the ceiling, where it comes from, and remove the pipe.

i don't want the mess and expense of having a new channel created, and i have a mains power source i can utilise if i can find the correct device

Why don't you fit a pull switch?

Metal conduit suggests the wiring may be old, out-dated or even in need of replacement.
