Its late.
Marty is preaching that every death in the world is my fault and I have no feelings.
They did say this is the worst weekend of the year for emotions.

A factual story.

2 Children, 1 a boy and 1 a girl, almost 5 years age difference between them are brought up in the same manner, knowing right from wrong and taught to have respect for others especially their elders.
The boy, (he is the elder of them), sometimes skips school and is a right pain to get up in the mornings. Outlook; probably end up on the dole.
The girl, up washed and dressed ready for school with no second bidding and treats everyone equal. Outlook; promising future ahead with few worries.
Boy reaches 16 leaves school and goes on a YOP scheme. Loves the idea of working and earning a wage and has never looked back or been out of work for more than a few weeks in 16 years. Now a proud father and independent.
(Has had a few minor setbacks in early teens but nothing out of the ordinary).
Girl, reaches 14 and overnight turns into the devil incarnate!
Refuses to go to school, always skipping off, smokes, swears, gets drunk after sneaking out of house, kicked out of one school and refuses to attend 2 others that she was placed in. Somehow gains employment at 16 as office trainee and excels at it. However, at home still has violent temper and destroys various fittings/furnishings and totally trashes her own bedroom. Seen by doctors, counsellors and various others. Not drugs related and no one has any answers. Eventually parents tell her to leave which she does, alerting the neighbourhood by almost taking the front door off its hinges as she goes. Parents still feel love for her and try desperately to find accommodation in a youth hostel for her which they succeed in doing and she agrees to go there rather than walk the streets. For the next few years she can still make her parents life hell with phone calls, threats etc Until she herself becomes a parent to a beautiful little girl. BANG!!! She becomes someone who feels a sense of responsibility and begins to see what she almost completely lost. She changes, not overnight, but over a period of time becomes the type of person people expected her to be when she was young.
How can 2 people from the same family, brought up in the same environment and under the same guidance lead such different lifestyles for a number of years?
The clue may lie in the fact that when the boy was attending school there was talk of banishing corporal punishment. When the girl attended it had been abolished.
Don't tar every parent with the same brush. As has been mentioned, some kids from good homes turn out bad, others from bad homes turn out good, and sometimes you can get a mixture from within the same family. There is no simple answer but removing certain powers from teachers and relaxing discipline has had a lasting effect on the people of this country. As has been said earlier, we have to draw the line back in the sand and make sure it stays there. Too many people fight for the rights of children, immigrants, gays etc at the expense of those who really deserve their rights, the parents.
