I have a dishwasher on a combi system, the dish washer wont drain but it is connected to the same waste trap as the washing machine which does drain fine, what could be wrong ??

Disconnect the drain hose and let it fall into a bucket....if the machine drains now, then its an obstruction in the waste trap under the sink.
If it still doesn't drain, then its a pump issue (blocked or not running), filter blockage, kinked hose or similar.

its a brand new machine too, give that a try , thanks john

Some undersink machine traps are actually blanks - and you cut the blank end away when you want to start using it......hope its as easy as that!
