Hi

Just a quick question, I am thinking of replacing the current light in my downstairs toilet with a downlight, does it have to be IP65 rated. There is Just a toilet and sink

Many thanks

If you want a very small point source of glaring light which all it'll do is cast shadows & darkness in areas not directly under it, sure. Doesn't need to be IP65.

I remember one place I worked had downlighters in the cubicles, one of the benefits was being able to play shadow animals on the floor when sat on the throne

You may not be able to put DoWnlight in the same place as the existing (pendant?)..

it will be mounted either on a hoist or on a piece of wood (aka noggin).

You would therefore need to find a clear area of ceiling with no obstructions. And need to move the existing wiring to the new location.
Maybe easier to find a different surface light, and abandon the downlight idea.

Edit: about 170mm Dia by 40-50mm high
