Faulty cooker or supply?

I

ImayKnow

Our electric standalone electric cooker is not working.

With everything on it turned off ( hobs, grill and oven) the wall mounted mains cooker light glows. But as soon as one of the actual cooker switches is turned on, the wall mounted mains cooker light goes off, and the cooker will not operate. Turn the cooker knob(s) off again and the light glows again.

Can anybody diagnose the fault?

Thanks

There's a high resistance in the feed to the light. Possibly a loose connection. However, apart from switching off the mains and inspecting the connections inside that box, there's nothing you can do other than call an electrician.

Also check the associated circuit breaker.
