passed the acs which was fine. just wondering about something which i just never enquired about. how come you are not allowed a drop of gas of say 4mb on u6 meter on pipework but with appliances connected (no smell_)you are allowed this leak/drop?? seems amazing you can have 4mb leak with cooker connected (no smell)but not on pipe!!!this is puzzling to say the least. there must be alot of engineers who come across 4mb drops on pipework but leave since a cooker can be kleaking the same but still be deemed ok!!!

As far as I am concerned anyone who left a 4mBar drop shouldn't be doing the job, regardless of what the regs state.

The 4mBar/8mBar drop rule was for the days when granny's gas cooker used to have leaks at the gas taps etc.

All gas carcasses should show no drop apart from the perceptible loss allowance.

Regardless of what the regs say if ive got a 4mb drop with appliances connected im concerned! Modern appliances should be gas tight when gas valves are closed, 30years ago they werent!

ummm. but its still allowed. still covered if mention it on cp12. i do find that amazing!!!8mb on an e6 is allowed to leak with cooker(no smell) its allowed but scary!!

Why does 8mb on an e6 sound more scary than 4mb on a u6 its the same size of drop.
Its all to do with volume of installation

Why exactly is it so scary? How long would it take for a dangerous quantity of gas to escape into a room and form a combustible mixture?

A 4mb drop over two minutes will never get to an explosive level!

How about if the property was shut up for a months, whilst the occupants went on a round the world cruise.

Should be fairly easy to work out....how big is the room and what volume is the gas carcass?
