Hi,

The boiler is sparking continuously trying to ignite, but there is no pilot light lit. What is the likely cause and solution?

Thanks.

firstly make sure your gas is on etc...
other than that its probably a very simple common fault that requires an RGI.

A lack of an annual service is the problem.

Regards,

Paul.

Or it may be the more serious fault which still needs an RGI !

this boiler uses flame rectification, so check the spark cables are intact, check they there is nothing that could create a short circuit allowing AC back to the control, and check the spark gap (2mm). Most likely perhaps is a dogy earth, allowing the AC signal to get back unrectified.

Other than that, the pilot injector ports are extremly small and could easily be blocked.

All are jobs for a RGI
