Hedge trimmer mains lead repair

I sliced through the mains lead (twin core) of my Bosch hedge trimmer at the weekend and want to repair it. Using one of the intact lengths to reconnect to the trimmer body would leave the cable too short, so I want to re-connect the two cable lengths using a choc-block or similar.

Rather than use a basic choc-block, it's been suggested I get one of these, which would presumably provide more resistance to damp and therefore be safer:

Does this seem like a good idea? I notice that it is rated to 16A - is this sufficient for a hedge trimmer?

What fuse does your hedge trimmer plug have?

Fit a new lead:

Then cut the plug off and fit this on the end:

3A, so I guess that connector would have been OK!

In the end, I decided to get one of these:

Good idea but bear in mind that if your CU also has RCD protection for that circuit, BOTH may trigger so 2 things to reset.

the orange connector is good, but not if you have a 3 core flex on your hedge trimmer!
