HELP UK Wiring diagrams

Help I am trying to explain to a japanese friend how uk houses are wired up I need some basic diagrams covering ring main etc can any on help as language is proving a barrier so diagrams ( in color ) would help

Thanks for the help its good but not quite what Im after.
What I am really looking for is a diagram that shows a whole house from the supply to the lighting and power with more explanation on uk power showing Earth neutral and live

The Japanese have 50Hz and 60Hz, and I believe they have a 100V supply. Not that this makes any difference to this post, just thought it might interest people that they have such a low supply voltage.
