Inset gas fire in a cast iron surround - standard size?

That opening: the 550mm x 400mm ( its best to stay on one metric page) is the building opening - always has been.

I quote my first post: "many cast iron surrounds have fire openings" - i made no mention of a fireplace opening until the "hole in the wall" (as the Mfr's called it) in my last post. Where's the confusion?

If googling to a page full of fire surround pics is not a link then ...?

No matter what the reps call it, what else could i possibly have been referring to?

Actually, the key word was not Victorian, it was surround. Many of the pics on the google page were FWIW Victorian.
