I am going to turf my garden prior to selling it...

Does newly laid turf look great straight away or does it "mature"?

I understand that it is best not to walk on newly laid turf until it has rooted down into the soil. How long should this take? 4 weeks?

Thanks.

when you lay a lawn it does look like a patch work quilt, at first a good watering and time are what is needed

Roughly how much time are we talking? Say 3-4 weeks? Or is more time needed?

Watering? Ummm. That should be interesting. What with a hosepipe ban and all.

Yes, you have to water it!! otherwise the turfs will shrink, and possibly die. The turf is in the growing season now, so it really does need water. Ideally you need to let it bed down for about a month, then mow it, gently, do NOT scalp it!! Then feed it, and keep watering it, another lightish mowing after a month, and it should be good. Try to avoid trafficking the lawn, preferrably a light rolling after a month.
