the dimension of earth bonding within 600mm of meter outlet is from gas regs, ( and is to ensure future pipework alterations always leave the earth connection correct, as the pipework reg states that the first 600mm of pipe after a meter has to be rigid, then it can change to semi rigid etc) electricians always quote at first point of accessability, usually where the pipe comes up through the floor at the apliance if the meter is outside

Yes, because that's what the Wiring Regulations say.....

It's conceivable that 600mm from an external meter is still external.

ETYMOLOGY: 17c: from French pratiquer to practise; see practical.

Actually from the Greek Praktikos, then Late Latin Practicus, then medieval Latin forms practicalis, practicare then onto Middle French practiquer. In English as practicable circa 1670 derived from the English practic circa 1475 and as practical before 1425 derived from Middle English practik circa 1392, in turn perhaps derived from Old French practique. Practically as an adverb circa 1623.

You'd think we have the gist of it by now, wouldn't you? :D
