Ive just purchased a new cricket bat and wanted to make the toe waterproof without any advers affect to the spring in the wood itself. Anyone got any ideas?
im planning on linseed oiling it 3 times per year and probably only once a year to waterproof the toe. I have bought some boat varnish and will apply a light coating to waterproof the thing.
I would only oil the toe, not the blade. So if oil cannot penetrate the wood, neither can water: which means task accomplished. Up in Scotland, our bats see alot of damp conditions.
