metal 2 way light switch

Just got round to try to put metal 2 way light switches on and have discovered that my 60s flat doesn\\\'t have any earth wires coming in to the mounting boxes.

Does this mean metal plates are out without re-wiring or is there any way round it?

it also means the existing cables have no earth, which also means any metal light fittings have no earth. does sound like complete re wire time

cligsy, are the cables single core or are they in a grey outer sheath?

If they are single cores then you have conduit and the rewire may be a relatively simple task, but if you have the old flat 2 core PVC then it will be more involved.
