mulching a slope

Mowing that slope is quite difficult. I would like to replace the grass / weeds with some sort of mulch. Do you think that the mulch will roll off the slope after a while? I was thinking of using pine needles.

I don't want to cover it in gravel as I like the natural look.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would imagine it will be fine but it's hard to tell how steep that is by the pic, i have used slate mulch on a slope of about 30 deg and it hasn't really shifted too much but it was only about a metre long.
