New boiler------Powerflush?

A BS states Powerflush? Or just a flush? I doubt it states, "Powerflush".

Also, British Standards are recommendations.

That is where Intergas shine. If you have a 30 yr old low pressure system with an f&e tank, it can remain that way as the Intergas can be pressurised or open vented.

Pressurising can pop old rads and give leaks in unexpected places. If it works and no leaks, just leave the system alone and fit a vented boiler. Just flush the system with mains pressure water, one rad at a time open to get the crud out of each rad. Fit a filter on the return and pour in X900 and X100. Clean the filter every month until clear water, then clean filter every year. Replace X100 every three years.

When it is time to replace rads remove f&e tank and pressurise system. The boiler comes with a pressure vessel, simple to do.

And when the leak in the unexpected and inaccessible place allows the pressure to drop the boiler may then be unable to function until it's operating parameters are changed
Yep. If it is old and low pressure, keep it low pressure if at all possible, until the next major job, replacing rads and the likes.

I think we have a convert.
I have always liked the Intergas. Reliable enough and robust with a decent control system. A problem is that they do not sell the high flowrate combi model in the UK.

I do not like the resistor becoming over hot in some models, discolouring the plastic. Bad design - not on Rapid.

They are not too efficient on DHW in the combis, but make up for it in simplicity. I believe they have flue heat recovery on some models improving efficiency, however, not available in the UK. In a very well insulated house most gas used may be in DHW usage.

They also need to up their service in the UK.

Pointless post of the year candidate.

Not pointless for all cases. Plumber readily converted a system from vented to un-vented, about a days work and it was all working. Still working a few days later.

Then it stopped working.

The plumber wasn't quite so keen to came back to diagnose why the pressure kept dropping and leaving the family without heating or hot water. Yes they did know how to repressure the system but it should not have been necessary

Maybe he was just a bad egg cowboy installer and therefor not typical of the plumbing trade.

A pointless and one sided post.

What operating parameters?

Changing from it being a boiler in a pressurised system to be a boiler in a vented system

A pointless and one sided post.

Yes one sided, from the side of those customers who are mis-informed and/or ripped off by plumbers who are not capable or willing to do a good job.

Many tradesmen and tradeswomen take advantage of the customer's ignorance of what is involved when designing a system that is the most appropriate system for the customer

And many more customers take the pizz out of tradesmen

Fully aware of that. Do you have any idea of the ratio of bad customers to bad tradesmen ? ( percentage wise )

But blowhards don't ever mention that do they.

It is talked about but in other places. Often by people tasked with sorting put the mess and deciding who is responsible, bad tradesman or bad customer.

There is little point in talking about it here as the "tradesmen" here will defend each other when Joe Public happens to question work carried out in their house.
