We do work for a national hotel chain, can't name but will become obvious with rest of post.
basically have a 400a tpn pme supply and runs at approx 180 - 200a normally, but they have now had permission for a big wheel attraction which is now up and running, what i'm asking is as the wheel requires 125a 3p+n do they require permission to connect to hotel supply or as it has 400a incomer can they just connect and go as it could be anticipated on hotel demand.
many thanks

It depends on a few scenarios.

1/ Though the supply looks to be 400A, is it actually, as standard gear is used with quite often the fuse size being a lot smaller.

2/ What is the agreed supply capacity with the supplier, if they exceed this they will pay huge penalties on the bills.

3/ Under the terms of the supply agreement they are obliged to discuss additional load with the DNO and get permission to connect it

Best advice is play safe and talk to the above
