I have a fan in the ceiling in my bathroom, the ducting going in the loft. Should the triple pole isolater switch for my bathroom fan be sited outside the bathroom or if is it OK to have it in the loft?

I recommend you put it outside the bathroom, above the bathroom door. It is then not likely to be accidentally operated, but it is visible and readily accessible when servicing or repair are needed. If it is in the loft no-one will be able to see it, and will probably not bother looking.

I recommend making a neat label for the isolator using white vinyl tape and a permanent black marker pen.
