Hi, Can anyone help me I'm having a problem with disposal of rainwater.

We live close to a wooded area and my guttering is catching not only leaves but also things like small seeds and the tiny concrete finish from the concrete roof tiles all this is disposing into my underground drains and silting up the trap in the drain which is almost a metre below ground.

I am almost 74 and have difficulty in reaching down to empty the trap, I really could do with something that I can clear out at floor level and let only the clear water into the drain. The only thing I have thought about is a "Bottle Trap" above ground prior to going into the drain system but cannot think of a way of placing where it would not be a eyesore.

Please can anyone advise.

Peter, this may sound a bit corny but have you considered using a wet vacuum cleaner?
A cheapish version is available from Wickes (its a rebadged Earlex) it has two solid extension tubes and a flexy hose with it. There's a cleanable / disposable filter inside.
Machine Mart is another supplier.
John :)
