I need to re-site a telewest broadband box/socket from one room to another.

I dont need to add and extra cable but i need to lose about 4 metres of it and re-make the end

I know the telewest end connections are crimped but i was thinking can i cut off the 3 metres i dont need and just fit a standard f connector in its place then re connect

?

The cable in question is clipped along the front of my house and quite poorly done I must add. I want to pull it all the way back and into another room hence the reason I want it cut shorter rather than coiling ito as either way the end connector has to come off. :(
