What is a reasonable amount of time to wait for boiler parts?
There was an accidental back-flow of water into our Vaillant Eco-tec 824 and the fan mechanism was damaged. Possibly the gas valve and electrical display too: the later appears to be fine, but the engineer said he'd order a spare just in case (if he doesn't fit it, we won't be charged). Said engineer came last Friday (23rd April) and reckoned the parts would be through on Monday. We're still waiting for them.
When I've got through to the receptionist, she says she'll find out what's going on and get back to me. She never does. We've been without hot water and heating for over a week now. Is it normal to wait such a long time for spares, or should these parts be easily obtainable and the company I'm dealing with is lackadaisical? The engineer they sent round seemed very professional, but the receptionist seems to be messing us about.
On Tuesday I'll be phoning again. If the parts still aren't through I'm tempted to knock the company on the head. However, my worse fear is that we'll start all over again with someone else (another long wait for parts).
What should we do? To paraphrase the Clash, should we stay or should we go now?? Any advice appreciated. Thanks.
