Scottish independence.

You clearly are very bitter and jealous, under that pseudo-intellectual cloak of socialism / marxism......

I work, I get paid (fairly, for what I do, I reckon), and I believe I benefit from living in a State with a monarch at its head.
What alternative reality do you live in, where you think shafting occurs on any regular basis (that you haven't asked for, or deserved)? PMSL...

There are plenty in this country who think they're better than me, none of whom have any birthright to back that up - in fact, they often seem to be the hand-wringing, condescending ones, who think they know better than everyone else. Are you one of them? ;)
Wrong on all counts...

I'm not better than you (or anyone else), but it appears you lack the intellect to realise that you are indeed being shafted by those who think you are inferior...

But hey, you can continue to kowtow to YOUR royals (and all those 'others') if it makes you feel better :D

Fair enough, although respecting other people's views seems to be a one-way street.

So, how would you feel if your boss paid you, say, £500 per week for your hard-earned skills and knowledge and your colleague £500,000 per week for doing a job anyone could do simply because your boss knew his Dad.

Then, when this colleague retires or dies, his job is automatically given to his son.

Oh, by the way, this colleague also has a huge country estate because he is descended from an immigrant who was given it, and its inhabitants, by the then monarch who, presumably, you would have equally revered.

I think simon heffer in todays mail hit the nail with regard to Scotland.

..."b*****r off....

He also wrote an interesting article in Saturday's Mail. One thing I'm not sure about is to quote him, is if the Jocks vote to leave the union, we will be 'unencumbered by a heavy financial subsidy to Scotland'.

OK, so we don't need to fund the net cost of running Scotland, but they keep their oil revenues. Presumably? Will we really be better off without the oil earnings?

I don't know why Comoron is in Scotland campaigning for a 'NO' vote. Surely, removing the threat of a Labour government in England would be to his advantage - and to ours.

I suspect his motivation is not wanting to be the PM in power at the point the union started to formally/legally fall apart.

If Scotland votes for independence can I go and claim political asylum on the basis that I'm being oppressed by the idiots in Westminster?

I hope scot-lands effs off.

If they vote yes, a-lot of people will be against devo max that Cameron offered (without holding any poll on the matter).

I reckon they will vote no though, too many scabbers who know we prop up their economy with military spending (that they also whine about), that the banks will bugger off elsewhere, and the Barnett formula.

Wrong again.

How exactly am I being shafted? You keep throwing the term about for effect - crystallise it.

And as for kowtowing,

Sure, I'd show due respect to Her Majesty (if I ever had the fortune to meet her), because I think she has earned it.

I do know a few "blue bloods", and I generally find them to be (enviably) well-spoken, but also realistic and down to earth - it is the envious "have nots, think they are owed everything"-types who want to get into a d!ck-waving contest.......

Give me a self-assured and understated Lord any day of the week......

It's probably happened so many times to you that you are now oblivious of said shafting

How has she 'earned it' exactly?

Being born into privilige is an odd measure of 'respect' that you believe to be 'due'...

And I'm sure many of them would be happy to oblige your fantasy ;)

Constructive as ever....

EFL posted earlier about respecting other's views - I think that was aimed at you........

Just think, in just over a week's time we'll know whether Scotland will stay or go. I think they'd be worse off if they left but it's their decision to make. I just hope all the voters actually research things properly first rather than just deciding on a whim on the day...

Whatever way the vote goes, at least Scotland has made the UK government finally sit up and take notice. Cameron seems to be getting a bit worried now.

Constructive as ever....
And yet you won't answer why your queen apparently deserves 'respect'...

Funny how you are obtuse as ever ;)

Deserves MY respect, which is an opinion I am entitled to. But all you can do is scoff at my opinion - very constructive.....

And I already told you why - eight decades of serving our nation, and not herself.

Go on then - your turn - what is this shafting you are so fixated on? Examples please (you won't).

You don't respect the Queen and that's just fine. And yet she hasn't done anything to deserve your scorn either.
You come from some banana republic and just decide she deserves to be hated. Plenty like you at the moment.

She has served her country for 80 years with great dignity and at 88 is still doing so.

Where will you be at 88?
OOh yeah in a care home hobbling about on a zimmer frame (if your lucky) at the tax payers expense moaning about the monarchy because you spent half your life moaning on an internet forum and going on protest marches instead of putting your head down and actually working to ease the burden on the taxpayer.

Meanwhile the British Sovereign will be taking care of constitutional and representational duties which have developed over one thousand years of history.
Receiving foreign ambassadors and high commissioners, entertaining visiting Heads of State, and making state visits overseas to other countries, in support of diplomatic and economic relations and fulfilling a host of other duties which never stop 365 days a year..
