Have i unwittingly posted some Sparky p0rn?
Sort-of ... you certainly may find some people lusting after some of the bits of your electrical installation.Have i unwittingly posted some Sparky p0rn?
Thanks - but my cellar is already well stocked with what most people would probably call 'nostalgic junk' (or something like that!) - and far from all of it electricalI've got an old SP CI cutout in the garage if you want it john

PLEASE check with the engineer about taking photos while he or she is working. He ( or she ) may be working on Live cables where absolute concentration is needed for safe working and the flash of a camera could startle him or her and cause an accident.Oh yes, get lots of nice photos (including of the insides when it's taken apart
Whilst that is perfectly true, I really don't see why there would be any need to take photographs whilst it was being worked on. Photos in-situ (before works begins - and we already have at least one of them), and after it has been completely removed are surely what would be wanted?PLEASE check with the engineer about taking photos while he or she is working. Any update, did they come out?
So, huge embarrassment on my part but the whine turned out to be coming from a efergy electricity meter monitoring thing in the same cupboard. .... I did check that as soon as I heard it but it was one of those whines that was really difficult to pinpoint the source for. Anyway, he's put in for a replacement but it's a long lead time. The leaking pitch (sp.?) was pretty minor he thought and didn't warrant any emergency action. But he said calling them was the right thing to do. As for who would pay for a replacement, it would be them, he assured me.
Certainly not me - I've often wondered that myself!anyone know why they used to use them big insulaters round the screws
That sounds credible. However, that would apply to anything screwed into walls, but I can only recall ever having seen such 'insulators' (giant ceramic washers, I suppose!) used on 'electrical boards'.Thought you would know that I always assumed maybe to stop damp from walls penetrating the wood.
often see the screws nearly rusted away in the old pub cellers.
