My mother rings me. "The boiler is making a terrible banging noise"
I reply. "Turn the bathroom radiator back on Mam"

Her system had no bypass and when the TRV's closed down all that was left for circulation was the bathroom rad but she kept turning it off...

Cor blimey DIA, that must have driven early Servowarm installers MAD

They could fit that but Baulked at a ballvale in the f&E

Actually it was an water company thing that they couldn't fit ballvalves in the header tanks.

Can't remember the history, but the low water content boilers were revolutionary, and everyone was slagging them off especially British gas, The elite held under a pint of water I think.

We was early servowarm installers

Let me think, thats hard

£1 per rad upto 5 rads and £2 each for 6 or more.

£5 for a cylinder.

£5 for the boiler.

Then it used to accumulate for a second system in the same week, can't remember how it worked though.

My record was, start at 7:30 because the lady had to go out for the day, An Elite boiler, cylinder, and 6 rads, all up and running when she came home at 7:00pm

To make it interesting I had to move the furniture and lift carpets.
