Hi. I've just bought a house with storage heating and I am looking into upgrading to an electric boiler. I've been advised that the Thermaflow is the best, and is cheap(ish) to run. Its a 9KW unit and will run on an Economy 2000 tarrif with 18 hours off peak, charged at £0.07pence per kw hour.

I am thinking though that it will be expensive, as running this for say 7 hours a day will be working out at £4.41 per day.

Please advise as I am very unsure what to do. There is no gas mains in the property.

Thanks
Karen

Electric will be expensive to run.

Look into air source heat pumps as the cheapest way of heating.
12kW one will do you approx £1100 off ebay.

If your go for one with MCS you'll get some government
payments so worth looking into.

Since the boiler is only very small. An lpg combi boiler run off
a couple of 47kg tanks may be an option and perhaps cheapest
to install.

Oil would be cheapest to run of the fossil fuels but could be expensive
to install.
