 Help, my toilet is overflowing and I have no idea how to stop it.....I had the toilet fitted 4 months ago and now it's overflowing constantly. I understand that this type of fitting is 'continental' in that is overflows back into the toilet. To flush you have to press a button in the top centre of the cistern. I don't know what to look for to stop it filling so far. I am not familiar with plumbing at all. Look forward to a speedy reply. THX Worried Joanne. PS: Please reply in laymans terms

you need a whole new syphon (thats the thing inside the cistern. ) see oilmans post regarding these, 4th one down when you click here

Thanks for the reference breezer, but I've just thought the flapper could be ok here and it's likely to be the equivalent to the ballcock that's the problem as the overflow is running. It might just be stuck.

It sounds like you have a "internal overflow syphon" ..When you say overflowing is it sending the water into the tiolet or overflowing from the cistern? If the latter then replace the syphon. If it is going into the toilet then adjust the ball float assembly (there is a plasic bolt) so the, water level is reduced.
