There is no suggestion that Blair or his group made a proposal for "questioning" or "doubting" to be offences. Have a look at the first post on this thread. It is a lie, probably intended to stir up argument.

It's not a lie at all. If you look at the conspiracy theory known as the holocaust and denounce it as such and say that it never happened as there is no proof that 11,000,000 people disappeared without a trace (though they still claim pensions from Germany), them in 16 countries in Europe you will be imprisoned. Blair wants to make that 17 countries that you get imprisoned for debunking the myth.

However, the majority of the sensible world will go on believing the true account. This is the one that stands up. This is the one that is undisputed. This is the one that the law says is true.

There are very good reasons why it's against the law to deny the holocaust in certain countries.
A terrible thing was done over a number of years, a whole people either collaborated in it or turned a blind eye to the horror.
Nobody wants it to happen again, (though it has). one way of trying to prevent horrors like that is to recognise what happened and how and why.
Only by acknowledging these things can you begin to think about preventing the conditions arising where they may be repeated.
Another good reason is that you have to be a complete and despicable nobhead to try to deny what was so obviously and horribly real.
