Hello, I've got a Zip Hydroboil water heater whose output has slowed down to a trickle.

Nothing that I know of has changed; the water supply is connected, turned on and with adequate pressure. The water coming out, albeit slowly, is still boiling, and the unit can be heard to be refilling when water is drawn off.

There is a white plastic cigar-shaped item plumbed in line with the cold water feed to the boiler; this I presume is some sort of filter.

The instruction manual's troubleshooting guide states for this problem: "return to authorised agent". I'd rather not, so any advice on a fix for this would be much appreciated.

(Note this is not the Zip Hydroboil from my last thread, that one is fixed)

Could be blocked nozzle on the fill valve to the cold water tank.

Could be scale blocking the inlet to to the immersion tank.

These water heaters require regular de-scaling

The scale in the immersion tank can build up and set like concrete
witch requires chipping out with a chisel.

Thanks Gasop. Is descaling a DIY job or is it more specialised?

There is no obvious scale in the immersion tank or the cold water tank, I've yet to check the cold water nozzle and the immersion fill.

When the cold water tank fills, it does so in a spray which (with the lid off) sprays in all directions, rather than in a steady downward flow. Is this correct or is it a sign of a partially blocked nozzle?

Could the vent pipe cause a problem? What would be the effect of a blocked vent?

Sign that the inlet nozzle is scaled

I fixed it!

All it was was the red lock button at the RHS of the tap. Normally, this is kept pressed in by pushing and turning it, to keep the tap unlocked. It had broken and so wouldn't stay in, meaning that the tap was locked. People were still getting small, slow amounts of water out by forcing the tap.
