had just started a 60 degree wash programme. as soon as the drum started turning it started slamming into units onto either side. was washing two bath sheets. checked the weight it was fine, changed load to full load of tshirts and jeans. same again. now it fills with water and then the controller just clicks and doesnt move.

I am only guessing (because i cant see it)

The tacho magenet may have come off , and or it has gone out of balance, as it shook so violently i would guess it has smahed itself to pieces (i have seen one do this before.)

Time for a hotpoint engineer

if it is over 5 years old it may be a write off.

you could un plug it, open the lid and look (see if the timer is damaged)
